About Understanding: ideas and observations on cross-cultural communication
by Andreas Flugesang
(Of the introduction) Writing a book on cross-cultural communication is like walking in the dark on a stony path. The problem is more one of seeing than one of writing. Ludwing Wittgenstein says it simply: Don't think-look! With that he makes it clear thar understanding is more a state of mind than a mental process. Understanding is the state of seeing. Unfortunately for the writer -and the reader- understanding is not the process of writing about the seeing.
