The Nature of Mass Media Messages in Relation to National Development in Latin America

In summary, if national development is understood primarily as the reorganization of Latin American society on the bases of breaking the prevalent concentration of power, most content in the majority of Latin America mass media institutions appears not to contribute to such development. On the contrary, its predominantly trivial nature and conservative orientation appear to operate as deterrents to modernization in the region.
